Cyclone Hidaya Gives Kenya a Wide Berth: What next, After President Ruto Finally Starts Heeding the Weatherman?

Kenya has narrowly dodged the wrath of Cyclone Hidaya as the tropical storm weakened after making landfall in Tanzania. However, the aftermath still threatens coastal regions with heavy rainfall, prompting a cautious response from authorities. So William Ruto is now listening to the weatherman: "President Ruto warned that things may go from bad to worse if the warning by the weatherman is anything to go by." Ni God, manze! The Curious Circumstances Surrounding the Mysterious Death of CDF General Francis Ogolla: Unraveling the Enigma

Delve into the perplexing circumstances surrounding the sudden death of Kenya's Chief of Defence Forces, General Francis Omondi Ogolla. Explore the parallels with past incidents, allegations of election meddling, and the search for answers amidst speculation and intrigue.

The recent demise of Kenya's Chief of General Staff and Commander of Kenya Defence Forces, General Francis Omondi Ogolla, has sent shockwaves across the nation. Amidst allegations of election meddling and speculation about his replacement, questions linger about the true cause of his sudden death in a helicopter crash.

Generals don't just die, you know, especially not during peacetime, and certainly not in helicopter crashes. Yet, General Ogolla's tragic fate bears eerie similarities to past incidents involving high-ranking security officials, raising suspicions and prompting calls for a thorough investigation.

President William Ruto's revelation that General Ogolla was among those accused of attempting to overturn his electoral victory adds a layer of complexity to the situation. And Defence CS Aden Duale's promise that Ruto would (will?) "deal" with Ogolla adds a sinister aura to the whole affair.

Despite this, Ruto appointed General Ogolla as his first Chief of Defence Forces, citing his qualifications and track record. However, lingering doubts about Ogolla's allegiances and the circumstances surrounding his appointment cast a shadow over his tenure.

The parallels with previous incidents, such as the mysterious deaths of Interior Security Minister Professor George Saitoti and his Assistant Orwa Ojode (also in a helicopter crash), and Cabinet Secretary Major General (Ret) Joseph Kasaine Ole Nkaissery, fuel speculation about foul play and political machinations within the corridors of power.

The timing of General Ogolla's death, only hours after a platoon of KDF soldiers based in Turkana County descended on Lodwar Police Station in a brazen attack to rescue colleagues who had been arrested, only adds to the intrigue. To frame it in the vernacular, what in the pink goddamn is going on at DoD?

Furthermore, the reluctance to disclose crucial details, such as the age of potential successors like Lieutenant General Charles Kahariri, Ogolla's Vice Chief of Defence Forces, fuels speculation about hidden agendas and power struggles within the military establishment. The mention of the "Tonje Rules," which govern promotions and appointments within the KDF, raises questions about transparency and accountability in the selection process. (This is important because word on the streets is that Kahariri has altogether been leapfrogged by a junior officer in the succession musical chairs.)

As the nation grapples with the loss of one of its top military leaders, demands for a comprehensive investigation grow louder. The public outcry for answers underscores the need for transparency and accountability in matters of national security. Until the true circumstances surrounding General Ogolla's death are revealed, the spectre of suspicion will continue to haunt the halls of power in Kenya.

The mysterious demise of CDF General Ogolla raises troubling questions about the integrity of Kenya's military establishment and the safety of its top brass. Only a thorough and impartial inquiry can provide the answers that the nation seeks, restoring trust and ensuring justice for General Ogolla and his legacy.
